“The three-headed lovechild of Nine Inch Nails, Fugazi & Radiohead, if it was fathered by David Lynch.”
If that self-descriptor about A Cause In Distress doesn’t pique your interest then I don’t know what will….except for the killer debut single that captures all of that and more. As another starting point, “Lumbering” is a little bit Editors and a little bit White Lies if you take The Back Room from the former and “E.S.T.” from the latter and put them in a blender.
But I digress!
It’s another Cool Thing from Cool Thing Records as “Lumbering” by A Cause In Distress travels to new corners of Electro Rawk. Liam Watkins takes center stage immediately with swirling synthetics springing up like a geyser before his equally impressive vocal skills paint a lush picture to fit the haunting soundscape laid out as the foundation for “Lumbering”. Then there’s Dominic Robinson’s gnarly percussive feats that are manic yet maintain as if on a train that’s going at top speed and about to derail but never does. Sharing guitar duties with Watkins is Owen Foran whose heavenly riff work echoes the angelic vocals before crying out during a glistening peak within this vast sonic valley.
“Lumbering” is available on August 7th through Cool Thing Records with cover art by Tiffany Purser (Check out her work here) and can be streamed and downloaded by heading here or here. For more on A Cause In Distress, follow them on their social media sites by clicking here, here, or here.
