RNRF X Rock & Roll Rumble 2023: Week 2, Night 5

The penultimate chapter of this year’s Rumble is here with some mods, massive Rawk, and an overall abundance of mega talent around the New England music scene. It all goes down on Friday, April 14th at Middle East Upstairs and we have your primer to get you ready for the night’s artists as we race to the end of the Rumble:

Luxury Deathtrap (9PM EST): Shoegazey lo-fi Rawk at its’ finest, Luxury Deathtrap will be kicking off your Night 5 festivities with a restrained bang for sure! Lush and loud, LD navigate some moody waters with a textured sound that’s as dense as it is diverse and sure to convert many a non-believer when they hit the stage. Find out more on Luxury Deathtrap by heading here.

The Chelsea Curve (945PM EST): We think The Chelsea Curve is the only artist on the Rumble this year representing mods and that right there sets this Boston trio apart from the competition! Delve into their debut album which released in 2022 and you get even more depth with Linda Pardee sounding like the second coming of Chrissie Hynde on a bevy of tunes that are big, bold, and beautiful as they put a modern spin on a lost genre. Discover The Chelsea Curve for yourself by clicking here.

Kid Disaster (1030PM EST): Kind of like Circa Survive fronted by Daryl Palumbo, Boston’s Kid Disaster presents an eclectic mix of modern Pop Rawk that’s serene yet continually serves up some bite as you dive headfirst and soak in everything within 2022’s The Place You Should Be release. Get your fix on all things Kid Disaster in advance of their Night 5 appearance by heading here followed by here, here, and here for the socials.

Parts Per Million (1115PM EST): Whoa! Ready for some massive sounding RAWK???? Parts Per Million is bringing Night 5 to a close with a bevy of anthems that hearken back to a time when Cornell could be caught crooning on a bill with Cobain’s guitar work causing a catastrophe in the clubs! What separates Parts Per Million from being just another Nu-Grunge revivalist band is their penchant for grandness within each sonic trip they embark upon. Like “2020 Vision” off last year’s The Cycle which starts like Yes, gets big like, ahem, Big Wreck, and then just shoots straight out the stratosphere. And that concludes our preview of Night 5 of the 2023 edition of the Rock And Rumble which takes place at Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge on Friday, April 14th. Doors open at 8PM with a 9PM start time planned. Ticket links for all shows are located here with “Full Boat” passes for the whole shebang available here.
