You know what goes great with Thanksgiving? AC/DC. They’re back with Rock Or Bust, the best stocking stuffer you could give and/or receive this holiday season.
With no less than four songs brandishing the word “rock” in the title, AC/DC’s latest is a swift kick in the ass to remind everyone that sometimes simple is better. Malcolm Young is ailing and Phil Rudd’s gone off the deep end but that doesn’t mean the AC/DC train is stopping anytime soon. With Angus Young’s nephew, Stevie, filling in Rock Or Bust is short and sweet but filled with memorable AC/DC classics.
From the Angus Young led title track that opens the album through to the closing pangs of “Emission Control”, Rock Or Bust has something for every AC/DC fan. In the middle, “Miss Adventure”, “Baptism Of Fire”, and “Dogs Of War” show a spark not heard from the band in years while lead off single “Play Ball” sounds as if it was ripped from the Back In Black era. Young’s guitar solos this time around have a fire to them while Brian Johnson’s uncanny delivery hits the mark every single time.
Does Rock Or Bust sound like AC/DC? Yep! Do I want it to sound like anything else? Nope! Should you care that AC/DC is putting out another album that sounds exactly like most AC/DC albums? Hell no!
