Viruette Bring The Best Of British Indie Rawk To Boston On Waylaid in Aspic

If you were to take everything rolling around in Alex Turner’s head and make one cohesive record out of it then you might have something like Viruette’s Waylaid in Aspic. Formed in Boston in 2022, the trio that makes up this relatively newer outfit has assembled a collection of songs for Waylaid in Aspic that capture a smattering of styles and gives music fans a range of diverse Indie Rawk to sink thier teeth into.

“Sick Hominid” is shimmery and shiny with all the Post-whatever love to boot giving this opening track all the tools to succeed in making it a distinct introduction filled with this burgeoning bombast that’s electric! “Superanima” is more a modern classic than it is a throwback for this Kaiser Chiefs meets The Kinks kind of sonic storytelling with the way that vocalist/guitarist Harry Bee eloquently emotes as George Heffernan’s sax skills make their first appearance to give the song all the vibes.

“Pollyanna (You’re My Billboard)” is a quirky, lounge-like ditty pondering what “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” would sound like through a We Are Scientists filter while “She Dreams In Green Screen” is an atmospheric, ahem, dreamer that adds more layers to the Viruette sound as Heffernan’s bass playing nicely pairs with Andrew Ring’s subdued drum strikes. “The Water Beckons” ventures off into some different territory yet again for a dynamically dense finale filled with twists, turns, a lotta Rawk, a lotta Roll and ultimately a memorable last blast from a trio that might just be your favorite new band of 2023.

Waylaid in Aspic arrives on November 3rd and you can pre-order yours now by heading here. For more from Viruette, including all the deets on the rekkid release partay at Midway Cafe on November 4th, follow them across their socials by clicking here, here, or here.
