Vanessa Silberman Kicks Off Fall With Lush Modern Alt Classic Brighter in Bloom

As a fan of Carissa Johnson, we were immediately intrigued when new music from Vanessa Silberman, who took Johnson out on the road last year, came across our desk. And we were even more excited that her new EP, Brighter In Bloom, is just the kind of rawk that we dig on the regular. As will you!

But I digress.

Singer/songwriter Vanessa Silberman creates the kind of rawk that just instantly puts a smile on your face. On her latest release, Brighter in Bloom, she continues to craft these timeless modern Alt-Grunge classics that’ll keep long time fans grinning ear to ear while appealing to the larger population yearning for something fresh.

“Love” instantly has that aforementioned timelessness within a track that’s like Lush meets Pixies as it glistens while it grinds towards this huge chorus. And just when you think the song can’t get any better, you find out that Corrosion Of Conformity drummer Reed Mullin is behind the kit adding his signature flair to an already awesome opener.

“I Got A Reason” follows and is built around another gargantuan sing-a-long chorus that brings to mind The Breeders while “Don’t” is something else entirely, channeling the early daze of the Seattle scene in the ’90’s on a relentless hard rawker that doesn’t let up.

For you non-digital people out there, “Hey You” closes out the new EP with a song that brims with emotion as Silberman delivers lines like “Hey you/Don’t give up!” with a heartfelt yearning. And for you physical music haters (I kid!), your EP concludes with the fuzzed riffs of solid rawk and roller “Out Of The Shadows”.

Brighter in Bloom is out through A Diamond Heart Production (Online & CD) and Resurrection Records (Vinyl) on September 20th. You can pre-order yours now by clicking here and here.
