Twin Tribes Fly Their Post-Punk Darkwave Freak Flag Proudly On Ceremony

Don’t finish that 2019 “Best Of” list yet!

Closing out 2019, Negative Gain Productions is keeping the Darkwave banner flying high after a slew of incredible releases this year which included everyone from Strvngers and Mr. Kitty to Curse Mackey and Goo Munday unveiling astonishing new opuses of awesome. Going out with a scream and not a whimper, NGP is launching one last blast of aural amazing at you with the sophomore full-length from Twin Tribes.

Ceremony is the name of the game and the listening experience from start to finish of the duo from Texas’ second album is nothing short of divine. “Exilio” is exhilarating to open up the album with Twin Tribes’ blend of Post-Punk and Darkwave with Gothic overtones and Electro flourishes.

“The River” dives further into the dark with a DIIV meets The Cure (Think Pornography era) sound that haunts as ghostly voices puncture through this earthly plane for fantastically fearsome results. On the flip side, “Avalon” shines like a beacon with spacey synths straight out of the ’80’s hurtling towards you at a frenetic pace.

The duo of Luis Navarro and Joel Nino, Jr continue to conjure new Goth anthems when the bleakness of “Obsidian” drones away while later, programmed beats pulsate in “Fantasmas” which reminds us a little of Deadsy’s style of macabre Rawk especially in the way the baritone vocals serve as a stark contrast to the shimmering guitar lines.

“Heart And Feather” is another mover and groover and “Upir” gets back to the beats with echoed vox providing the foundation for your next favorite New Wave anthem as echoes of New Order invade. “VII” is spooky and will have listeners uncontrollably Goth dancing along as the syncopated beats throb while “Perdidios” is an epic synthetic masterpiece that would easily sound at home on The Lost Boys or Fright Night soundtracks with a rumbling bass contradicting the glowing guitar lines and hypnotic synths.

Ceremony drops on Friday the 13th of December and yours can be pre-ordered right now by clicking here. For more on Twin Tribes, including live appearances, follow them over the interwebs by clicking here or here.
