The Wicked Wasp Mother Of Weymouth Bring The Digital Pollution On Extreme New Release

Artwork by Sawwarwarsaw

In the time it took us to attach the album artwork to this post, the newest from Weymouth’s Wasp Mother was already almost over. So yeah, Digital Pollution‘s six tracks are extremely short overall but that’s par for the course when dealing with such extreme sounds in the way that the South Shore quartet do. And that’s not to say what’s within doesn’t leave a lasting impression because they certainly do that!

“Gravemouth” is an ominous opener with Kevin S.’s crushing guitars creating an elegant air of discomfort before Jenny Mac’s grueling growl elevates the Grindcore of it all with “Burnout” being led in next by George Mutch’s thunderous drumming which, in the span of barely 45 seconds, transitions seamlessly between a heavy Groove and a battle ready Blast Beat.

“Boring” is anything but when it kicks off with a Matt Berry sampled line from Toast Of London before delivering a cacophony of Pete Walsh’s bass sounds, Mutch’s drums, Kevin S.’s guitars, and Jenny Mac’s shrieks as Walsh continues that robust rumble to start the all out Hardcore breakdown of “Hubris”. “Akathisia” drops in next for a quick visit that’s loud, fast, and angry before the epic “Pale” (Read: Almost two times the sum total of all the songs that preceded it) takes its’ time getting to the bones of it all and proving that the power of Wasp Mother is just as potent when drawn out.

Digital Pollution drops in for a permanent visit on January 19th. You can find all the pre-save info along with links to Wasp Mother’s social media pages which include all the deets for their record release party on January 20th at The Vault Music Hall in New Bedford with Iron Gag, Drogato, Void Bringer, and Violent Majority by heading here.
