I just can’t keep up with the amount of awesome that The Joy Thieves seemingly put out there on the regular.
I really wanted to review their last release but then the world went to shit, priorities shifted, and stuff I was focused on for RNRF got shifted to an afterthought. When the pieces were being picked back up I chose to shift towards what was coming rather than what already was. Because for me, if it’s out there for mass consumption then why does anyone wanna read my two cents?
Then this slab of neatness dropped and I saw that my redemption was at hand since I could push their last AMAZING release (Get it here!!!) while touting an equally AMAZING new batch of sonic offerings.
So howzabout that for an apology???

“Genocide Love Song” is here and features our all-time favorite Joy Thief, Chris Connelly, on the mic sounding positively possessed! Incensed even! Think “Cannibal Song” levels of maniacal! As chugging riffs surround, sandwiching the most radio-ready chorus from an Industrial outfit this side of “Closer” in the heaviest way possible to drive those points home even more.
Backing the new single are a trio of remixes including the “Chib Mix” of “The Bandleader” (Off A Blue Girl) which has some vibes of Connelly’s former outfit The Damage Manual. Elsewhere, “I Blew A New Girl” (A Treuhand mix of “A Blue Girl” by Howie Beno & Brandt Gassman) is an almost seven minute mix dub banger and later, Joy Thief Dan Milligan takes apart the title track to close up the short EP/single as “An Inconvenient Mix” of “Genocide Love Song” pulls that ditty into dancier territory reminiscent of the way that Happy Mondays used to craft their mega jams.
