The wait is almost over for the highly anticipated debut full-length from Wyn & The White Light but the trio from New England isn’t one to let that anticipation rely simply on the promise of a collection “pomegranate-infused haunted-soul rock” to satiate fans without one more actual song to preview the record barely a month out from when Luck releases on March 19th.
And that brings us to today and “Statue” which drops on February 22nd which is definitely the most diverse to date from the Wyn & The White Light well of musical wonders. Featuring vocalist and violinist Josh Knowles, “Statue” sees vocalist/guitarist Wyn Doran, bassist Lucia Jean, and drummer Heidi Tierney channeling what Doran calls “anesthesia dream” on a song that confronts Doran’s past battle with a stroke that left her mind intact while her ability to move and speak was lost.
It’s delectably dark and the epitome of a “Horror Rock Song” (Think A24’s brand of terror for the alternate term from Wyn) with Doran’s quavering voice matching the subtle quivers in the instrumentation that envelopes the whole of the song for an all around (And rightly) eerie feel with this gorgeous dichotomy of Knowles’ haunting violin lines and Doran’s subtle fuzzed out guitar tones speaking volumes within.
“Statue” featuring Josh Knowles arrives on February 22nd ahead of full-length Luck on March 19th (We’re so close!!!). For more from Wyn & The White Light, including upcoming shows and the latest on Luck, follow them across the information superhighway by clicking here, here, or here.
