Starting the day with an unexpected new release from one of our already faves is never not a great thing. In the aftermath of the 2024 Rock & Roll Rumble, 2023 entrants The Shallows return with “White Sands” that continues on the glistening Post-Rawk glow of their last collection of tracks.
According to the bio, the latest track from the Boston quartet “imagines what must have been the profoundly surreal position the half million people living within a 150 mile radius of the Trinity Nuclear tests found themselves in”. So for all our history buff music fans in the audience looking for that non-existent Oppenheimer: Songs Inspired By The Film album have your first single.
In all seriousness, “White Sands” is a heavy (As in subject matter) song from a band who thrive in dense, lush textures with vocalist Jess Baggia’s siren-like swagger elevating the music conjured alongside Jason Keisch, Ben Didsbury, and Brad Emerson. If you were enraptured by their Rumble performance last year or at any other time before or since, then “White Sands” is for you.
“White Sands” and its’ accompanying video arrive on May 8th and you can head here and here to stay on top of the drop as soon as it happens. For more from The Shallows, including info on all upcoming live experiences, follow them across the interwebs by heading here or here.
