For those of you just discovering slo-anne for the first time we can’t think of a better introduction than “ded” which is not only a fitting lead single but also a banger of an opening track off the upcoming new full-length called Whiplash.
And who are the Boston transplants by way of the “Constitution State” (That’s Connecticut by the way and our second post utilizing a state nickname if you were wondering) that make up slo-anne? None other than brother/sister duo Andy and Cecily and while we could make reference to other famous duos, siblings or otherwise, we choose not to because Cecily’s mastery of the telecaster (And microphone to boot) and Andy’s staccato stick work is beyond reproach with “ded” being just the start.
This start in particular is a vibrant and vivacious Rawk and/or rollah that epitomizes all the “scrappy indie rock n’ rollers hoot boot skootin our way to the top” aesthetic that their Bandcamp bio decrees and trust us when we say that this just about three minutes of music barely scratches the surface of what’s to come on Whiplash (Read: We’ve heard it, it’s awesome, review forthcoming).
“ded” is out on May 31st ahead of the new full-length Whiplash which drops on June 27th. You can head here to get yourself a copy to listen to repeatedly as soon as it drops and then make sure to head here and here for all the rest of your daily slo-anne news including up-to-date stuff on all things Whiplash, where you can catch them live (Like on June 2nd at State Park Bar in Cambridge with Sailor Down and Yoni Gordon & the Goods that you can find out more about here), and so much more!
