Singles! KPT, “Collared”

Okay, let’s address the elephant in the room: Beyond the mass amount of remixes that KPT has delivered lately, there hasn’t been a new single from the outfit in the past two years. That said, and cutting to the chase, is “Collared” worth the wait? If you loved the techno anarchy that KPT had previously conjured within tracks like “Obliterate” and “White Crosses” then hells yes, this is what you’ve been waiting for. If you’ve never heard of KPT before but dig artists like ESA, Cyanotic, and others that practice calculated chaos in our realm then this is your wake up call.

Like the long wait fans endured between releases, “Collared” slowly builds from a caustic distortion that’s being belted out across the speakers for a solid two minutes and change before propulsive beats swell like a chest rising and falling with each inhale/exhale. Add an electric synthesized atmosphere that’s ominous and all-consuming with scattered sampled vocal lines exquisitely inserted into the dense framework and you have a new KPT track that is well worth the wait.

“Collared” is out now through GIVE/TAKE and, according to the press release, is “the first single in a forthcoming diptych of releases exploring the psychosexual and power dynamics entitled Never, Forever; Nothing, Completely“. In other words, get excited. You can get your digital copy of “Collared” now by heading here.
