We initially started off with a completely different Hyber post focusing on some previous release but dragged our feet too much and decided to start fresh and focus on something more recent. Then that didn’t work out either so now you get our take on “Happy”… and we couldn’t be more, ahem, happy with this turn of events.
Lush Alternative Rawk is the name of the game in the world of Hyber if you didn’t know already and “Happy” embodies that statement to a “T” with a song that’s refined and rich with a glorious chorus and a little spark of that Jimmy Eat World circa Bleed American magic (We have the original version so it’ll ALWAYS be called BA for us). The entire band (Jeanette Abbene on drums, bassist Gabriel Santos and guitarist Nick Arathuzik) back up vocalist Kris Musto at one point on this one produced/mixed by Chris Curran (Shallow Pools, everway) at Reclaim Studios and mastered by Will Yip (Quicksand, Circa Survive, Turnover, etc) which makes for an even bigger sound from the Salem quartet on a song that hopes to convey an even bigger message.
“Happy” is out now ahead of EP All The Things It Hurt To Know and can be found across all your most favorite DSP’s like some of the ones shared together here. As if you needed more reasons to love Hyber know that if you purchase “Happy” through Bandcamp (Which you can head to when you click the stream below) until the end of June, all of the proceeds will be donated from the band to the American Civil Liberties Union who actively monitor attacks on LGBTQ+ rights in US legislature.
