Singles! Groundlift, “Killer Petition”

It’s doubtful you’ll find a more catchy single coming out of Boston this fall. And probably none as unique sounding as “Killer Petition” is either as this, ahem, killer single treads the Land of the Lost in the way it traverses between the oft neglected area somewhere between the end of ’80’s Hair Metal and the beginning of Grunge.

Take some Motley Crue-style riffage, a drummer who hits the kit like Animal and vocals that are a cross between a young Layne Staley and Scott Weiland at his strongest and you have the delightful Rawk cocktail that is “Killer Petition”. Coming off their rollickin’ debut full-length (Listen to that here) released in 2018, Groundlift offer up a taste of their forthcoming sophomore opus with five plus minutes of luscious new noise.

Mike “Ace” McCormack’s smooth vocal delivery instills a sense of urgency to the track as his guitar cuts a swath of pure Rawk delight to build to this truly rippin’ solo towards the conclusion that absolutely shreds. Leah Bluestein adds even more dimensions to the Groundlift sound with her intricate fills and solid bashing throughout alongside bassist Michael Dutko, whose playing spreads a foundation of delicious reverberations over all of “Killer Petition”.
