Singles! Gozu, “CLDZ”

Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that jazz, right? Well, that especially rings true when it comes to the music that Gozu has been spewing out ramping up to the release of Remedy on May 19th. “Tom Cruise Control”, released last month and reviewed by us here, was a great reintroduction to the Boston quartet after a 5-year gap between full-lengths but “CLDZ” is just presenting fans with some next level Gozu material that, dare we say, kinda blows away an already impressive body of work.

Kickstarting with some sonic excellence and a masterfully vibrant wall of riffage, “CLDZ” immediately settles in for the long haul with almost 7 minutes of heaviness that’s already inching the yet-to-be released rekkid further up our year end list. It’s the Marc Gaffney and Doug Sherman show once again when it comes to those monstrous Gozu riffs with drummer Seth Botos and bassist Joseph Grotto in charge of laying the foundation between bouts from this relentless freight train of Rawk rumble that permeates throughout.

On top of Gaffney’s uncanny soulful delivery at the mic are these stellar solos from Sherman that lead to a slow crunch that reverberates on until the end with a different tempo and feel that’s kind of like Gore Verbinski’s take on The Ring where you think it’s over and then it just keeps going… and going some more. Unlike that 2002 Horror flick, though, you’ll be tantalized to the edge of your seat because of a terrific tune and not some ongoing terror.

“CLDZ” is out now and available at all your favorite streaming/download sites ahead of the release of Remedy which drops on May 19th through Metal Blade Records/Blacklight Media which you can pre-order here or by clickng on the stream below.
