Singles! Eldridge Rodriguez, “A Feeling That Won’t Go Away”

Some times we get an abundance of stuff to review (Okay, all the time) and while it may take some time, if there’s a band that’s on our radar we’ll make sure we make the effort to review it regardless of if the fabled release date has passed. Boston/NYC hybrid Eldridge Rodriguez is one of those outfits that always makes that list and while we were already hyped for their upcoming new album (Atrophy, due in September, and praised previously without hearing a note in our 2023 preview list here), we’re more hyped that the first single is here and is every bit as awesome as we could’ve anticipated it being.

But I digress.

For those just tuning in, “A Feeling That Won’t Go Away” is peak Eldridge Rodriguez with peak performances all around. It’s got that old timey/down home feel that leans into their brand of Folksy Alt Americana with nods to ER’s louder origins with outfits like The Beatings or on their own releases (Read: The Castrati Menace) and Cameron Keiber’s sumptuous soliloquies at the forefront. Also on board for the new tune are Clayton Keiber’s guitars adding to Cameron’s gentle strums as well as Dennis Grabowski’s relaxed drumming that, along with Dave Grabowski’s bass work, forms a sort of comfort loop that hypnotizes and continually swells adding Erica Mantone’s guest vocals and Bridget Nault’s lush accordion sounds to the mix for a robust return for the veteran quartet.

“A Feeling That Won’t Go Away” is out now through Midriff Records and can be found at all the usual places by heading here. For the latest from Eldridge Rodriguez, including ALL the info on that aforementioned forthcoming record, follow the trail of socials when you click here, here or here.
