If you haven’t taken the time to check out New Hampshire’s Desert Rawk deities Dust Prophet yet then now is the time as the quartet end May on one heavy ass note with the release of “Shadow Army”, their third single.
Within this five and a half minute wall of sound listeners are treated to quite a bit of the Dust Prophet world so strap in and enjoy the ride! You have borderline Thrash to open thanks to Otto Kinzel’s shreddy riffs coupled with Marc Brennan’s cacophonous drumming. Then there’s a mid-section groove-laden rawk in the vein of early Kyuss and Sabbath with Sarah Wappler laying down some impressive bass wobble until later when she gets to highlight her organ prowess during a psychedelic breakdown to conclude the piece which journeys to the world of Dopes To Infinity at times.
Throughout it all you have vocalist Heather Lynn acting as your mad maestro or ringmaster as her hypnotic voice is equal parts angelic and devilish as she leads listeners through this latest slab of intricate Dust Prophet rawk.
