Singles! Blood Lightning, “Blankets”

Wait, we get TWO records with Doug Sherman kickin’ ass and takin’ names on the axe in 2023??? It’s true! And speaking of “kickin'”, Boston supergroup Blood Lightning who feature the Gozu guitarist in its’ ranks has been kickin’ around for a bit but this year is going to give us their debut full-length which arrives in October through Ripple Music. But before that, we get “Blankets” as a tease.

Oh, and did we say “supergroup”??? Because we weren’t kidding! Not only does BL feature the aforementioned Sherman on guitar but also Worshipper’s Bob Maloney on bass, Sam Black Church’s J.R. Roach on drums and Set Fire’s (Among many, many, MANY other projects) Jim Healey on the mic. As for “Blankets”? It’s exactly what you’d expect from an outfit consisting of the members that this one does. It’s loud, heavy, and full of soul thanks to vocalist Healey who yields not only a unique voice in the Boston scene but kind of everywhere. It’s a swirling riff tornado that lets each of its’ members shine with Sherman showing that Remedy doesn’t have ALL the best riffs of 2023, Maloney providing a raucous rumble that’s unrelenting, and Roach bringing just as much power to a less frenetic band than the legendary SBC.

“Blankets” is out now and can be streamed and/or downloaded by clicking here! For the latest on Blood Lightning, including deets on upcoming shows and their forthcoming full-length, follow them across the information superhighway when you head here, here, or here.
