I don’t know if BALUCHITHERIUM is a band that’s supposed to be in all caps but once you hear the bombastic decadence of the rawk within their first two debut singles then you’ll agree that if that name isn’t supposed to be in big letters then the music they create most definitely warrants such a grand declaration.
But I digress.
BALUCHITHERIUM is their name and rawkin’ is their game. Boston-based and featuring the king of killer tunes, Dug McCormack (Psychic Dog, Pony Snot), the mighty BALUCHITHERIUM flex their musical chops and show off their diversity on a pair of songs that offer glimpses of what’s to come.
“Change These Strings” kicks things off with Dug on lead vox adding a twang to this Honky Tonk-infused ditty that has an irresistible hum underlying from Michael “The Director” McCormack on bass within a track that just screams old school Boston in the vein of Modern Lovers/Jonathan Richman. It’s fast, fantastic, and fun. ‘Nuff said.

“Cryin’ Shame” is the flip side and shows off a different, but no less fiery, side of our collective heroes as Ed “Shred” Dormody handles vocal duties on a melancholic track that lets Gregg “The Cosmic Professor” Porter’s drumming sing underneath a guitar showcase from Jerry “Jerry Belafonte” McCormack, Dug, and Dormody.
