The end is here! It’s the final night of the greatest local comeback story of the year… so far. Happening on Saturday, April 15th at Middle East Upstairs, Night 6 boasts a solid roster of local talent that’s got something for every kind of Rawk fan out there so let’s take a look, shall we?
Wildcat Slim (9PM EST): Wildcat Slim’s Bandcamp page describes them as “good old rock and roll from the 21st century with influences that span space and time” and we couldn’t agree more! For every glistening Rawk journey like “Coward’s Playbook” (Which also features Ever Finer’s Lizzie Greenwald and Julie DiOrio), there’s a track like “PTW” that’s akin to Dire Straits with its Bluesy stadium-style guitars matched up with some subtle Honky-Tonk twang by way of Boston to throw a monkey wrench into the whole sonic shebang. Which is incredibly endearing. And one of the many reasons why you should tune in. For music and more, head here. For the rest on the socials, head here and here.
Devil Love (945PM EST): Boston’s Devil Love will still be ridin’ high after the release of their newest self-titled full-length which dropped in January when they saunter into Night 6 with their brand of big Indie Rawk that’s reminiscent of Stephen Malkmus and Neutral Milk Hotel. You can fall in “Love” for yourself with the rest of their sound and more by heading here then head on over to the information superhighway for their socials over here, here, and here.
Michael Kane & The Morning Afters (1015PM EST): Worcester’s own Michael Kane & The Morning Afters find themselves waltzing into Night 6 with some unhinged, loud Rawk straight outta the ’70’s & ’80’s. Think Tom Waits meets Springsteen circa Born To Run then listen intently to the lyrical prowess Kane has on full display throughout latest album Broke Not Broken and beyond. Prepare for the “I don’t give a fuck start” with the music and more when you head here.
Donaher (1115PM EST): The last band to play on the last night of the preliminary round! Manchester, New Hampshire’s own Donaher will close out the opening round of the 2023 Rumble with an upbeat slab of hybrid Power Pop/Punk that’s sure to have the tired masses digging deep to keep the party going for one last dance set to a soundtrack filled with slamming drums, thick riffs, and huge choruses. Get yourself ready by heading here for the sounds then here, here, or here for the socials.
And that concludes our preview of Night 6 of the 2023 edition of the Rock And Rumble which takes place at Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge on Saturday, April 15th. Doors open at 8PM with a 9PM start time planned. Ticket links for all shows are located here with “Full Boat” passes for the whole shebang available here.
