RNRF X In Between Days, Local Look: Sweet Petunia

Who’s ready for something a little softer and probably the most perfect artist to ease you into Day 2 of In Between Days after what is sure to be one heckuva comedown following the Day 1 launch??? Well, get ready for Sweet Petunia then because they might just have the stuff within them to conjure up the right kind of sonic magic to start off Sunday smashingly!

Now to be perfectly clear: Our knowledge of banjo-related music only reaches as far as what Steve Martin and Kermit The Frog have delivered to our earholes. But! We know what we like. And we definitely like Sweet Petunia! Related, we are also not well-versed in today’s hip ukulele music either which also pops up in the SP sound. Anyway! Diving into what’s streaming currently, it’s hard to find anything currently available that’s not to like, or dare we say love, in ye olde Sweet Petunia jukebox. Their third, and most recent, EP Lovingly, is a stirring collection of acoustic ditties that tug at the heartstrings and tantalize the ear drums because the, ahem, sweet music that Madison Simpson and Mairead Guy make together is nothing short of stunning. And if you’d like to go deeper then the self-titled debut has some serene stories like “Daisy” and “Daydream” to soak up as does Move Along. which followed with some happening bangers like the driving “Humidity” which hopefully only pertains to weather that’s passed and not weather that’ll, ahem again (Sorry!), stick around the weekend of IBD.

Sweet Petunia will be appearing on Day 2 (8/20) of IBD with a set time on the Arbella Insurance Stage currently scheduled for 12PM. In Between Days Festival is happening on August 19th and 20th over at Veterans Memorial Stadium and you can secure your tickets in advance NOW by heading here.
