RNRF X Capulet Fest: Local Look, Magnets For Maniacs

First off, what a rad moniker that CT’s own Magnets For Maniacs has! Second, and more important, what a killer sound! You’re not likely to find a band embodying as much Groove Metal as this New Haven-based outfit do when perusing Day 2 options of the 2024 edition of Capulet Fest happening at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park from June 28th through June 30th.

Appearing at 1215PM EST on the Montague Stage during the June 29th date of Capulet Fest, Magnets For Maniacs is a thrilling artist to check out and one sure to rev up the mosh pits early. Latest single “Headshot” is a great entry point for the MFM uninitiated with the band displaying a range that shouts out the works of Groove Metal legends like Lamb Of God and Pantera within the 3 minute and change sonic walls constructed. The album which it first appeared on, 2023’s Snakes & Cynics, is a shredtastic barnburner with big songs and bigger breakdowns that’s got the mastery of modern Metal down but with a Hardcore aesthetic (Hatebreed meets Threat Signal) on top of the already mentioned Groove Metal leanings.

“872” is a moody, blistering behemoth that flows for over fine minutes and delves into different sub-genres throughout, “Goodbye” displays MFM’s penchant for perfectly melding styles treading the line between Grunge, Hard Rawk, and Metal effortlessly on this one, and “All Eyes North” is a mostly clean vocal-laden piece that exhibits airs of Earshot at times. Then there’s “Deadfall” which just continually crushes before closing out the first chapter of the Magnets For Maniacs story.
