The next coming of Far? With some deftones-style dynamics and hum-like atmosphere thrown in for good measure? Does that sound good good to you? Then you’re going to LOVE the latest from Boston’s Mission To Sleep!
With new EP White Death, Mission To Sleep expand upon the foundation 2022’s Post Youth began for a refreshing Rawk opus that’s sound is as loud as it is lush. “Sine Of The Times” instantly illuminates the tone of what’s to come with a heady heaviness that’s both intimate and intricate while also displaying an insurmountable amount of sonic heft. It’s Jon DeSousa’s labyrinth-like drum line and Justin Viveiros’ big bass tones and Jeff Kuznezov and Rob Wu’s two-pronged wall of guitars with Wu’s soothing delivery that make this quartet instantly infectious to ears.
“Delirium” was the perfect pick as a first taste of White Death bringing a catchy chorus that’s enthralling while DeSousa and Viveiros’ drum and bass bravado shine against Wu and Kuznezov’s wailing guitars and then “Slo Fidelity” sees a softer side of Mission To Sleep with a track that’s like a lost gem from the late ’90’s/early ’00’s Alternative and Post-Hardcore era that brought bands like Thrice into the spotlight. And of course you’ve gotta have that banger finale, right? For White Death, fans get the shimmering shredding of “Point Of Failure” which is a rollicking rollercoaster of robust rhythmic swells with Wu’s croon serving as the tether to tie all these sonic soliloquies together.
White Death arrives on July 21st. Find out when you can get your copy as soon as it drops by following Mission To Sleep across their socials when you head here or here.
