Lucia Cifarelli Steps Out On Electro-fied Elegance Of I Am Eye

Much like legendary musical chameleons David Bowie or Madonna, KMFDM’s Lucia Cifarelli traverses a tantalizing line that subverts genres and dwells in a place that’s all things Electro, Industrial, Pop, and more on I Am Eye. Speaking of the Material Girl, Cifarelli’s first solo outing in nearly twenty years is almost like an Industrial-tinged Confessions On A Dance Floor where it takes a known quantity and transplants it into a glorious new sonic world to give fans the follow-up to From the Land of Volcanos that’s more than worth the wait.

Lead single and opener “Girls Like Me” practically glows, honing in on those Confessions… vibes as it ramps up into a manic Electro frenzy with Cifarelli’s lush vocal approach at the forefront and leading listeners into a glammed out dance fest while “To Be Alive” is a tad more straightforward as it dips into Depeche Mode territory for another synthetic stomp that easily crushes the competition.

“Kiss & Tell” is a seductive foray into big grooves with striking guitar tones that’s reminiscent of classic Garbage with “Last Of Me” humming its’ way in next as it subtly pulsates with Cifarelli’s effervescent presence absolutely illuminating lines like “You’ve not heard the last of me”. Next up, “Command” is an Electro waltz that’s heavy on the beats and piercing percussive blasts and probably the most “KMFDM-sounding” song on here which is fitting considering Kap’n K himself, Sascha Konietzko, co-produced the record.

The title track is a dizzying delight of dynamic synthetic bursts and then “Get It” is a stunning sashay with Cifarelli’s voice sweeping over all. “Dear Divinity” is an electronic rawker that’s haunting with a funky feel akin to a futuristic version of “Rapture” that leads nicely towards “No Place Like Home” which is an expansive slow burn that’s gothic and gorgeous and all the things in between tying Drill into MDFMK into KMFDM and beyond.

I Am Eye is available now from Metropolis Records and can be picked up or streamed when you head here or here.
