Karma To Burn is almost an institution in the desert rock scene at this point. Since their debut in 1997 (The only album to feature a vocalist throughout, however, K2B completists should check this out for the fully realized version) Karma To Burn has been rockin’ and/or rollin’ with a steady fervor. Despite line up changes and break up’s and line up changes again, Karma To Burn has persevered through it all with a winning formula that shines on their latest release.
But that’s not all! Sure, K2B could’ve filled their latest EP with those thundering drums, that rumbling bass, and those Will Mecum signature riffs that make a new Karma To Burn track instantly recognizable. They could’ve done just that and called it a day….but they didn’t. For the purists, tracks like “Sixty”, “Sixty One”, and “Sixty Two” offer enough “classic” Karma To Burn to appease. However, the stand outs here are the ones that come after.
For the fans who like their Karma To Burn with a little more bite, then “Uccidendo Un Sogno” is the jam for you. Try and handle all this coolness for a second: The song is a cover of Tom Petty’s “Runnin’ Down A Dream” sung in Italian by Stefanie Savy. Got all that? It’s unique and utterly awesome. Then it’s back to “basics” with closer “Sixty Three” which is a bluesy little ditty that, at its core, is Karma To Burn yet takes their sound to a whole other level.
