forktie Release Debut EP Of Supercharged Rawk!

We’ve definitely mentioned two things in these pages before: 1) Surprise new music is the best new music and B) Hot damn are we proud of the local scene in the Boston area! This post covers both of those things as local outfit forktie follows their debut single from earlier in the year with the just dropped debut EP.

But I digress.

forktie’s debut EP is here and it’s everything you want and more. After shining on “spores” (We checked it out for you previously and you can conveniently read all about it right here), these former/current members of Test Meat, Easter Bloodhounds, textbookcopilot and more return to finish the job with four more tracks of sonic bliss.

“anywhere but here” comes at listeners screaming out of the gates before settling into a steady alt-rawk groove with Dom Mariano’s hushed vocals reminding listeners of Matt Talbot or Ken Andrews.

“september morning” follows and is a quirky, jangly throwback of some of the greatest overlooked gems of the alt-’90’s while “decomposition book” really gets into the meat and potatoes of forktie’s songwriting prowess and has Aarne Victorine’s bass work summoning both Les Claypool and Simon Gallup.

Closing with “phd in nothing” and listeners are reminded of those great grunge/alternative anthems of yesteryear before it builds to a beyond banging breakdown as Corey LeBlanc beats away on the drums and the EP concludes in just the proper rawkin’ fashion as it began.

forktie’s debut EP is out now for mass consumption. You can get yours by clicking here or on the embed below. For more on forktie, including upcoming gigs, head on over here.
