Flight of Fire Announce Indefinite Hiatus, Unleash Swan Song EP She’s a Badass Featuring Cherie Currie

Unlike many a typical post round these parts following a tried a true formula, we’re going to treat this one about Boston’s Flight of Fire slightly different. Sans a “But I digress” even!

But I digress.

First, the good news:

Flight of Fire is back with She’s A Badass, a sick new EP that captures everything that makes this Boston quartet stand out from the rest. And they brought out the big guns in the form of the legendary Cherie Currie of The Runaways who helps out on the title track by adding some extra “Oomph!” to an already hard rawkin’ anthem.

“Monster in the Mirror” is unstoppable, driven by Maverick’s sweeping delivery that is equally exciting and enchanting. Drummer Maddie May Scott delivers a visceral performance as well with Tanya Venom accompanying the onslaught with some super-sized shredding of her own.

“Too Much Woman” could be the new entrance theme for Becky “The Man” Lynch as this acoustic hymnal shows the diverse songwriting Flight of Fire has to offer. “Sick in Love”, on the other hand, gets back to the rawk on a new anthem led off by Tia Mayhem’s rollicking bass lines giving us all the ’90’s feels (Think Green Day meets Dropkick Murphys) with Queen-sized guitar riffing from Tanya Venom, Maverick’s unparalleled croon and huge sing-along moments that’d sound just as epic in a club as it would a stadium.

“We have dedicated our lives to this band for almost a decade and the connections and bonds we’ve made through our music all over the world will always stay with us. Knowing that our songs have positively impacted the lives of our fans yields one of the most beautiful feelings imaginable and we feel so lucky to have touched so many lives. Making the choice to go on this hiatus is by far one of the most painful decisions we’ve ever faced. We could never have imagined that this day would come to pass.” 

Despite the hiatus, Maverick, Tanya Venom, Tia Mayhem, and Maddie May Scott will all continue to be involved in the music community in new ways. Music is a vital part of each of their lives.

“It is easy to lose sight of one’s own mental health conditions when faced with the extreme challenges and demands of the chaotic music industry. None of us will ever stop writing and performing what’s in our hearts, but we need to prioritize taking care of ourselves and making sure we each continue to follow the path that best suits each of us.” 

“The song ‘She’s A Badass’ itself is a great statement to leave for our fans as our goal with our music has always been to inspire anyone, especially women, to walk confidently in the direction of their dreams. No matter where you come from or what hand of cards you’ve been dealt, you deserve to be treated with equality and respect. You are a badass!”
