New Brunswick, NJ’s Dinosaur Eyelids offer up some diverse, yet familiar, sounds on their latest album. Bypass To Nowhere, their fourth, is a stellar slab of classic rock, grunge, and just some fun ’90’s nostalgia at times that’ll have rock fans on their feet and clamoring for more.

Opener “Talkin’ To Me” is short, loud, and fast with some stellar drum fills and a main riff that rocks all but if you’re looking for  the “hit” here it’d have to be “Nowhere Fast” which follows. It’s got everything: a strong melody, catchy hooks, and most importantly, staying power. Meaning it’ll be staying in your head long after you’ve stopped listening.

“Byzantine Conduit” is a quirky little number that brings Nirvana to mind (Think “About A Girl”/Bleach-era) while “Green Eyed Soul” adds some good old blues into the mix with some crooning and guitar wails. All throughout, Dinosaur Eyelids offer up a plethora of styles which together form a cohesiveness and brings more appeal to Bypass To Nowhere.

“Vernal Equinox”, for example, is almost desert rock with some Clutch-inspired goodness yet “Hate and Love” is a moody ballad, “Endless Cycle” introduces some harmonica, and closer “World on Fire” features a melange of horns and infuses some freestyle jazz into the song. All the same band and all works really well. If you haven’t heard of Dinosaur Eyelids before now then Bypass To Nowhere is the perfect introduction.
