Fierce and full of fire, Boston’s Catching Hell is bringing a raucous RAWK to the population with the release of their debut EP. Boasting a line up of Thrashachusetts mainstays/regulars/familiar faces that includes Duncan Wilder Johnson, Michele Morgan, Owen Bean, and Will Sullivan who, collectively, have seen some shit around the neighborhood, Catching Hell is here with four tracks (Five if you get the physical release) of righteous Rawk fury guaranteed to brighten your day..
“THE THUNDER OF SUBURBAN DISCIPLINE” starts us off amidst a flurry of riffs and some rhythm section radicalness with Johnson’s crisp bark at the forefront to turn this unholy “Shout At The Devil”-like ditty into an almighty anthem leading into the decidedly more swagger-fueled “FOR THE SAKE OF ALL THE WRETCHED AND THE DAMNED” with its’ Nu-Grunge Rawk coming off like some old school classic by the melvins.
Lead track “TWILIGHT MIND” is another anthem and a half with Morgan taking over on vocal duties for a more stable standard as Johnson brings some back up on the vocals as drums from Beane and riffs by Morgan crush in a cadence. The bass work from Sullivan subtly lays the foundation into “NEW WAY TO BLEED” which has airs of “Bark At The Moon” in its’ riff machine save for the fact that Morgan’s soulful delivery is a vast departure from the bat bitin’ madman and then “RELENTLESS” is a chugging back and forth between Johnson and Morgan that brings both a brevity and an abrasiveness to the end of this dynamic debut EP.
